The Purpose of this Blog
April 12, 2010Other
Being as this is the first official post for Rebz Media, I’d like to point out the purpose of this blog and what you can expect from future posts. This will not be another “50 Free Icons for Your Next Web Project” or “How to Design a WordPress Theme” blog, there are an excessive amount of blogs catering to that genre already and a few too many rock-star designers have said genre on lock-down. This will be a place where I can share my experiences with fellow freelancers to help further develop an understanding of web design and why (I feel) it’s a beautiful and rewarding process.
Your experiences?
Yes, my experiences. I’m not claiming to be some super-designer or web-guru, I still have a short long road ahead of learning and developing my own skills. When I say experiences I am merely referring to my methods, design process or solutions for issues I have come across. However, don’t be alarmed if you happen to see a small tutorial or two on this site. If I learn or create something that I feel is worthy of sharing with others I’ll be sure to throw it up here.
Why read the blog?
As I said before, this isn’t going to be a trash bin for recycled tutorials or freebies. I want to give insight to other freelancers from a different perspective. Everyone has a method, a process for how they deal with clients, projects or perhaps finding inspiration. Here you will learn through my mistakes and triumphs as well as experience another side to freelancing.
Interesting… I’m not a web designer.
We can’t can be friends. While you may not design or develop websites, you still have a process, you still deal with clients, you’re still a freelancer. I plan to share not only my methods for web design, but for being a freelancer in general. Just because you only create logos or plan to stitch Chanel bags in the future doesn’t mean you are unable to learn techniques from other designers in a separate industry. I personally frequent photography, fashion, and Pokemon blogs for a chance to learn something new and grant inspiration.
Intere- Wait, I’m not a designer at all!
Why are you reading my blog?! Interested in web design or perhaps… a perspective client? You can still read and learn! Many companies and start-up business are seeking a new and fresh design for their site (or new site). However, many are hesitant on finding a designer they will feel comfortable with. I believe chemistry is important and not every designer has a style or process that will flow with your business. Here, on this blog, you can learn about mine! Sure, you could take a stroll through my site and portfolio to get a feel for my style, but what about my work methods? Through this blog you will see my design process and thoroughness. You will be able to make a well informed decision as to whether or not you’d like to contact me for a perspective project.
How often will you update?
Excellent question… uh, I don’t know! I don’t want to blog for the sake of increasing traffic. Any articles published need to have a meaning, a real reason for being. I plan to post an article for each new project completed. Hopefully, depends on contractual agreements, I’d like to (somewhat) detail my process for the project start to finish; inspirations behind it, reasoning for choices and so on. Outside of projects, I plan to post inspirations I may find around me along with an explanation of why. As a freelancer I may discover new improvements for a contract that I feel are worth sharing. Perhaps I’ll find a new and exciting solution to a web related problem! Who knows!
Feel free to subscribe to the blog with your favorite RSS reader or check back frequently. I’ll do my best to have a few posts a month (that’s a lot I know).
One more question… Blueberry ba-
THEY’RE FRICKIN DELICIOUS! YA’HEAR?!

Its been over a year since your last update! Whats going on?
Was busy finishing up school and working. I since decided to create a blog separate from my portfolio which you can find at http://www.dampd.com. However, that hasn’t been updated since January 1st; again, because I was finishing up school.
